The Brooke works across seven regions - Cairo, Alexandria, Aswan, Edfu, Luxor, Marsa Matrouh and Sherbin in the Nile Delta.
Each of these areas has static clinics and mobile veterinary teams, helping us to reach 200,000 animals in more than 200 places.
Cairo hospital
The Brooke has a general hospital and four mobile clinic teams in Cairo reaching 24,423 animals every year. The mobile clinic teams cover 14 locations and are committed to providing various types of services for the animals and their communities.
The Brooke mobile team visits the Nazlet El Saman community near the Pyramids in Giza every Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday, as part of an increased programme to help working horses.
The Cairo mobile clinic teams also work with the working donkeys and mules in Helwan brick kilns. They visit five days a week and the Brooke is providing help to more than 1,500 donkeys and 300 mules working in 175 brick factories.
As part of the Brooke’s wider program, the Cairo team is working on training the animal owners and local service providers on the right animal practices, as well as cooperating with the other NGOs to help reach more animals in the operational areas. Other NGOs include the Spirit of Youth, CID, Caritas Society.

Alexandria clinic
The Brooke clinic was established in the El-Gomrok district in 1961, a public area near the port where horse-drawn carts are frequently seen transporting goods. The clinic has in-patient facilities and a base for our mobile veterinary teams, visiting markets and villages in the local area.
A first aid centre in Luxor
The Brooke's work in Luxor is a real success story. We were able to improve the condition and welfare of the carriage horses to such a degree that now the Brooke is able to spend time visiting new areas where owners and their horses desperately need help. The centre was established in 1966 before subsequently relocating to new premises in May 2008.
Aswan clinic
Established in 1988 on Sultan Abo EL E'la street, the clinic started with three rooms for vets, administrators and workers, three horse boxes and a mobile vet team, working in the local markets. In 1995, the clinic expanded and now has seven stalls, three mobile teams in addition to X-ray, sterilisation and recovery rooms and a medicine store. It now houses six vets and seventeen workers.
Edfu clinic
Brooke Egypt started its services in Edfu in 1992 with a static clinic consisting of seven stalls, a sandy yard big enough for 10 animals and a mobile vet team. In 2001, Brooke Egypt expanded, adding an extra mobile vet clinic, a new extension to include 31 stalls and two sandy yards, big enough for 56 animals. There are now five mobile vet teams working side by side with staff in the static clinic.
Matrouh clinic
In May 2000, the Brooke started operating in Matrouh with a static clinic consisting of 13 stalls, a large sandy yard, administration and vet offices and laboratory, pharmacy, sterilisation, surgery and X-ray rooms; in addition to two mobile vet teams and a first aid vehicle.
Mansourah office
In October 2006, the Brooke started operating in the state capital of Dakahlia El Mansourah City, the sixth most populous governorate in Egypt and 120 km north of Cairo. There are thousands of animals in the Delta villages, which the Brooke covers with five mobile vet teams operating across over 40 locations. We provide the animals with high quality veterinary care and train owners how to improve animal welfare.
